The Astro A40 Audio System is a headphone/microphone headset with an included A40 MixAmp headphone amplifier designed for gamers. With many analogue inputs on the MixAmp, including an axillary mini-jack input for things such as MP3 players, the unit also employs digital TOSLINK and S/PDIF connectability options, meaning it has an included DAC chip and is compatible with Xbox 360 and PS3 gaming consoles.

This digital connection also allows for PC gamers to bypass cheaper PC audio componentry that not only utilizes vital CPU cycles, but often sounds poor in comparison due to EM radiation and sub-par onboard circuitry. Both the A40 headset and A40 MixAmp are available separately, or together in this bundle.
