Ultrasone HFI-780

$250.00 Released January, 2011

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Very portable for full size headphones. Light weight. Respond very well to modification.

The Cons:Cushioning is too hard and uncomfortable.

The HFI-780 are one of Ultrasone's more popular pair of headphones. They can be had for a pretty good price and have very nice performance. The bass is a little out of control and the highs can be slightly piercing at first, but this will settle quite a bit once they are burned in.

They have a nice and sturdy build quality, especially considering they are a folding design, which makes them quite a nice choice for a portable setup. These really start to show their potential through modification though. A recable and slight tuning of the chamber yield fantastic results and really turn these into top notch headphones. Modified, they have even been compared to the high end Edition 9s (also by Ultrasone), which cost about $1,500.

cdpage: #ultrasone_hfi_780 I have listened to these and compared directly to their PRO750s

The difference in sound, I would say these have a little more punch, on the low end, and the highs might be just slightly sharper.
They also have a 3.5 mm jack
They are not as comfortable, as the 750s but they are still quite nice.
As for extended listening, they will let you listen longer then the average head set, but not quite as long as the 750s
Excellent head set worth listening to. Dec 30, 09
